Peter Lovenkrands Was Embarrassed

Peter Lovenkrands

It what a while back when the toon star Peter Lovenkrands drove 60mph in a 30 zone on Tyneside. The image attached to this post is what I found over the web, Peter driving the Audi RS4 whcih is capable of getting to 60mph in just four seconds. The car is worth over £50,000 and can reach up to 155mph. Peter has now been fined £670 and has gained 6 points on his licence by North Tyneside magistrates. This is what the chairman of the bench told the press about the 30 year old striker today: “He has held a clean driving licence for 12 years. In that time he has had no fixed penalty or endorsement. It was a momentary lapse in concentration over a very short period of time.” He went on to comment: “I’m not going to disqualify you. You have an exemplary driving record, made immediate acceptance of responsibility and are clearly embarrassed at the publicity and at being at court today.”

This is what Peter told the press today: “I have to be honest, with England playing I wasn’t sure. “The game was good to watch for them. We play Chelsea next at St.James’ Park next Thursday and it will be great for our players to play there. It would be great to see the fans come to this one. I’m sure a lot of them who will go to this game will also go to the Carling Cup game at Stamford Bridge as well.” The game at St.James Park will kick off at 7.00pm on the 16th of September. After the game this is what the 18 year old local lad told the media: “I think it was a very hard game. They had some very good players who were very sharp and quick on the ball. We worked very hard for the draw and worked well as a team to keep battling through to get the result. I think it was fully deserved, particularly as we had been in the lead two times in the game previously. If we keep performing as we have in our first two games, we should have a good season.” The reserves next match is at St.James Park against Chelsea on the 16th of August 2010 with a 7pm kick off.

Blackpool Fans

This weekend Newcastle United will take on Blackpool in the Premier League at St.James Park. Ian Evatt has told Blackpool’s official site that he belives the toon will face a new Blackpool side compared to last season in the Championship. Ian is a 28 year old Blackpool player who played at St.James last season when the toon slashed then 4-1. This is what he told the club’s site today about the toon: “I think last year we were maybe the rabbit in the headlights, we just weren’t ourselves on that day. We were in a great run of form before and after that, but that day we just let ourselves down.”

He continued: “We were a new team last year learning new things and I think we’ve come a long way since then. We’ve got a lot of new players that need to bed in, but they’re all settling in really well. It’s been a nice little break, everyone knows the Premier League is high intensity and sometimes you need a rest from it all. We’re ready to work again now with two massive games away from home that we could do with getting something out of. It’s a massive period for us really, this is a time that will test just how good we are and if we’re ready for it. The boys are full of confidence and will give it their best shot.” If you want to see Blackpool take on the toon this weekend there is still tickets available. Click here to buy yours online now. Please note there is no live TV coverage of the game but it will be live on BBC Radio Newcastle.

Hughton A Toon Legend Yet?

7 09 2010
Chris Hughton And Colin Calderwood

Sol Campbell today belives that the toon boss Chris Hughton could be a toon legend after his work at Newcastle United. This is what Sol told the press today: “The gaffer is fantastic, look at what he did last season, he could be right up there with the best of them.I think he’s going to do great again this season too. He’s passionate about his football and he’s a workaholic. Colin Calderwood is the same and the two together have been great for Newcastle. United are lucky to have them. They’re conscious of everything, they want the club to move in the right direction.”

He went on to comment: “They’ve calmed down all of the gossip and concentrated on football, which is what this club should be about and how it should be run. Chris has done a fantastic job. You have to look at what he’s done and say that. And when you look at the finances that everybody has to deal with in football, not just Newcastle, it’s pretty impressive.” Campbell joined the toon a few weeks ago, and is ready to make his 2nd toon appearance in tonight’s reserve game against Liverpool. Hughton will be looking at Sol tonight to conclude if he is ready to make his senior debut against Blackpool this coming weekend.

Carroll Is Doing OK, But Is Not Training

7 09 2010
Andy Carroll

The toon star Andy Carroll could still be ready to take on Blackpool this weekend despit recovering from an injury and not attending training. Carroll picked up a small injury during the toon’s 1-1 draw over Wolves 10 days ago and was knocked out of the England role last week. Hughton told the press he will only play Carroll if he is 100% fit and ready. This is what he told todays Chronicle: “He’s doing OK, but he still hasn’t trained. We have to make sure he is rid of the problem. When it happened before the Wolves game he didn’t train for five days. And there was still a lot of swelling afterwards.”

Hughton continued: “We’re confident he’ll be OK for Blackpool, but as always we’ll continue to assess his fitness throughout the week.” With this matter in mind, Hughton has pulled Nile Ranger out of tonight’s reserve game against Liverpool to become precautions about the options if Carroll is not fit. Other strikers should also be available such as Peter Lovenkrands, and Shola Ameobi. Xisco is banned after he picked up a red card against Sunderland last week in the reserves, and Leon Best may still have is ankle injury.
